TEST PREPARATION & PROCTORING
Colleges strongly consider your scores on standardized tests, including the ACT, SAT, and PSAT.
This is our most serious, committed, and rigorous approach: proctored tests every week or set subject-intensive sessions every week. Students attend at least 1x a week and up to 5x a week on a regular basis.
This is our mid-range approach: proctored tests at least once a month for test preparation, subject-intensive sessions scheduled on at least one day a week, but with a flexible schedule.
This is our least stringent approach: proctored tests whenever possible, subject-intensive sessions whenever possible; no complete drop-ins, but day-to-day options and last-minute requested sessions available.
“Quick update! My ACT score came out and I am happy to say that I got a 35!!! Thanks for the encouraging email you sent a while back; I think it helped me to de-stress and stay positive!”
In addition to intensifying their focus on subject-specific work, students also learn from AP unique ways to navigate these tests so they will score as high as possible. We can help to improve math and problem-solving skills in every way, as well as maximize performance on the verbal sections of these tests. Our strategies are out-of-the-box and time-tested, and have taken students’ 790s to 800s. Academic Pathways also provides academic support for any subject-specific exams, such as the SAT II subject tests, as well as any tests for private school admission such as the SSAT, ISEE, and HSPT.
For the SAT/ACT, we run very intensive classes that review the missed questions of each student's practice tests in an efficient, personalized manner. Each student ideally takes timed practice sections or entire tests every week, then we analyze all responses to the test questions during a very thorough review session. Many students prefer our center for SAT / ACT preparation because they don't want to be slowed down by a group class in which they won't receive individualized attention and personalized review of all their answers every single class.
We also include proctoring with our classes so students have a clear picture of their actual performance under simulated conditions. We recommend at least one full-length practice test a month, and ideally more frequently if possible. All of these test simulations are offered at a discounted price with any course package.
We apply the same intensive, personalized approach to all of our test preparation courses—even for younger students studying for tests such as the SCAT. We provide and assign material in a strategic, focused way so that our students maximize their scoring potential.
